I worked for what was then called Cingular and was in the New York section, and I can honestly tell you New Yorkers are a breed of their own. We got calls constantly about dropped signals, but when probed it was because they were in a subway. Towers are abundant in the NYC area so it is amazing they have discontinued them.
New Yorkers probably and appreciate the iPhone more than anyone else who has them.

As the new 'bug' section says: there is a resizing bug when viewing the back. Click the bottom of the widget to make it large before you view prefs to get the smoothest transition.
The code cleanup is needed now more than ever. This was one of the lasts steps in the beta stage. I will now (appart from fixing some more - user reported - bugs maybe) start working on the widget from scratch. Less code, nicer graphics, easier to use. It will take a while though.
Any request on widget abilities will be considered.
Time to enjoy the weather.

If the Intel chips burn 100W, then 9% conversion efficiency would generate 9W of electricity. In absolute terms, that's not too bad. You can do a lot with 9W. If you have a 5 hour battery life now, and can use these on all the major power sinks, you'd get 5.5 hours of battery life.
Hold up! 9% is and Ideal Carnot Engine efficiency. Real World efficiecny would be about 1/5. So, at most you are going to get 1.8W and thats if the fans dissipate 100W of heat which is ridiculously high number. I would see it around 20W, meaning your recycled energy would be .37W. What can you do with that? Oh right power partially a fan.

A little off topic, but question for those who need Office software, and also run Parallels/Fusion: Do you prefer Office For Mac, or do you prefer to run "regular" Office in Parallels/Fusion? Thanks.
I use Office enjoy ribbon the most. That said I do use Keynote for presentations rather than PowerPoint. Use Fusion for Visio :) and MS Project Manager :rolleyes: exclusivelly maybe one day they will be ported over in Office 2013. :cool:

I really don't think it's an iPad. Given how it appears to be a bright and sunny day and how much light can be seen reflecting off of most other surfaces, the "iPad's" surface seems too matte.

I hope all the features of IOS 5 will be supported on Iphone 4. I am in a 2 year contract right now and will have to wait till Iphone 6 comes out to get a new handset.
I know I can sell my current iphone 4 and get the iphone 5, but if all the features of IOS 5 be supported on iphone 4, i wont bother. Its too much hassle lol.
Then again what are the chances of Iphone 5 being a speed bump like 3G to 3GS?

Unfortunately iDisk is as slow as buggery, and always has been. Apple have done nothing to improve performance.
The new webmail interface is nice but thats it - a face lift, no new functionality.
Um, you get more than just an email account. You get an iDisk. You can easy iCal/iPhoto publishing, you get syncing of your data with all of your Macs. Lots of non-Apple apps provide easy publishing of your info to your iDisk.
I'd recommend .Mac to anyone who wants to do this kind of stuff. Can you think of a way to do all of the above for < $100/year without being an uber geek who knows all about FTP and WebDAV and POP/SMTP? :D

The NDS (at least in the UK) launched with Mario 64 DS and Wario Ware Touched, two great games rated 85 and 81 by metacritic.com respectively.
The 3DS has Street Fighter.
I forgot about those two and with Mario 64, I recall hating the touch-screen analog stick, so never completed it. Wario Ware was fun though and that's a game I borrowed. But the rest, bleh! I played Zelda Minish Cap on my DS when I first got it and then finally finished Zelda LttP(GBA), so at least I had games to play that I enjoyed.
Won't be buying Street Fighter, Capcom is on my shite-list, oh and I've always hated playing fighter games on any portable. :o

Crap... that is a freaking steel and well there just went the resell value of everyone's first gen iPad, including me. Oh well.
Only until the remaining stock of Gen 1's sell out, then things should get better. I have a 64GB 3G Gen 1 and a 64GB 3G Gen 2 and I still think the original model is perfectly fine.

This is great, now :apple: seem to be back on track to continuously release improved hardware technology.
It was sad when they took away the Firewire out of the iPod.
Something like the European requirement, in the US the cable TV providers have to provide firewire equipped cable boxes, so the users can get Firewire video out them. Normally you have to ask for it, and they have to give it to you.
Thunderbolt will kick ass.

Hello everyone. I am making a highlight tape for my buddy. He gave me dvds from every game he played in last year. For me to get the dvd onto my computer I either use dvd remaster or handbrake to get it to a quicktime file..
My question is is there anyway that I can just rip like 30 second segments instead of the entire dvd to space some space. Ideally into a .mov. I would like to just put the timecode in and it rips that certain time.. Example : 1:05:07-1:06:23

I hoped that this update should have throw away the X1900 XT Bug with my 23" ACD while booting XP ... but no, still here ... grrr :/
I use the 30" ACD with mine and it works well...there IS a driver for the ACD you can install...called winacd located at sourceforge. Google winacd.
Not sure if that solves your problem, but I love the control it gives me on the ACD (like brightness controls, powerbutton behavior).
The only problem I have is that I get a weird color artifact on my screen, if I dumb down the resolution to 800x600 (can I say...OH MY GOD THATS BIG) it clears up, then up it to the proper resolution it is all good.

All that matters is what games you like. Halo, Gears? Get a 360. inFamous, LBP? Get a ps3.
The 360 has tons more shooters, but the ps3 has it beat in variety, imo. With titles like the aforementioned inFamous, LBP, as well as The Last Guardian, Ratchet and Clank, God of War, etc theres a lot more variety than the 360 can offer. Of course none of that matters if you like what the 360 has more.

Interesting thought though. His rejection said it was for ridiculing public figures, but their policy rejects defamatory material. There is certainly a fine line, but the line most certainly exists. You can ridicule someone till the cows come home without engaging in defamation. The distinction is probably too difficult for anyone without extensive legal background to make on a regular basis and in a timely manner.
Apple should just drop the defamation clause, which may be difficult for them to do to.
I'd say Fiore flirts with that line often enough, Pulitzer winner or no. I don't know the legal technicalities, but I would think Apple would do themselves a favor by letting the lawyers figure out what's defamation and what isn't. I can't see how they could be held responsible for someone else's words, but I'm not a lawyer.
