Hi guys,
I wonder if anyone noticed that. I am a July 2nd filer and my priority date is not current and long will not be. But I noticed many many LUDS on my I485 and no change in messages. Has anyone noticed that too?
My LUDS: 9/7, 9/11, 10/3(after FP), 12/10, 12/11, 12/15, 12/18.....
I wonder what is happening....

Sounds like you found the "sensor", really a filter or glass over the sensor. When you remove the lens, you see the mirror. Put the camera in bulb mode and lock the shutter open, and that's the "sensor". Ensure that you have plenty of battery power (or are hooked up to the AC/DC adapter) before you stick anything into the sensor cavity. If the shutter closes while you have something in the cavity, the shutter will break, and you will need an expensive repair.
I have to clean my cameras often, since I shoot outdoors and change lenses many times a day. I have found that compressed air takes care of most problems, and a $10 bulb, like Mark mentioned, is the best way to go for field work. If you are willing to put a little more $$ into it, get an oil-less diaphragm compressor for an airbrush, ~$100. The other nice thing about air is that you don't put anything in the shutter cavity.
DO NOT use "canned air", these little cans with compressed air in them. They contain isobutane and other hydrocarbon propellants which can "spit" out of the can and leave spots on the sensor that will require a liquid cleaning to remove.
Liquid cleaning is more complicated. The Eclipse solution is (I have heard, I don't use it...) clean methanol. A lot of people use these with 'pec' pads with success. I use clean, high grade isopropanol, electronics swabs, and follow up with distilled DI water and the air compressor. This is a delicate process that I don't recommend experimenting with. If you want to learn how to do this, find someone who is willing to tech you using his camera. ;) Mark probably gets his money's worth from the camera shop. The only issue is finding a good shop.

I actually did chose the safe option and was approved for the O-1 for 3-years. Hopefully during that time something will happen to help me in the future (like a University Teaching position, or at least proving additionally valuable to the US, etc.)

AAA is not free :cool: I tried it a couple of weeks ago. Infact they are on the expensive side (compared to Kinkos, Sears, Walmart etc.)

What is the fastest and perhaps a little economic way to get documents over to chennai (Tamil Nadu) or Calicut (Kerala) from here in San Jose, ca.
USPS has this service called Express Mail ($27.95) or Priority Mail ($12.95)
I guess USPS is claiming 6-10 days (guess no gurantee) to india.
Other couriers seems to be $70+ (FedEx, UPS, DHL)..
Anyone has had good luck with USPS ? or do you suggest the couriers mentioned above ?
Need to get docs for an interview for parents on Feb 26th in Chennai...

Regardless of whether everyone gets their Green Cards or not, the numbers should definitely see a substantial jump.
we are entering into the last quarter, where according to the new rules, everything that has not been allocated will be opened up for retrogressed categories for that FY.
Which actually explained why they pushed EB2 so far back, so that they can bring it forward in the last quarter, i.e. the July bulletin.
On the whole issue of EB retrogression, This current batch of EB based green cards have waited the longest number of years in the history of green cards.
So, sooner or later, someone in the goverment will have to answer why is that they let so many people apply green cards when they did not have a numbers solution ready.
Why were we even allowed to file for Green Cards when they could only issue a certain number based on the Country of Birth, each year.
This is like sell a product to someone, send him an invoice, and he comes back and says, sorry, we have a country wise quota, so even if we bought these goods from you, we wont pay you cos the quota for this year is up.
No, literally, export quotas work that way, they put a quota on sourcing, not on payments.
Why not do the same on Green Cards?
So, this whole mess, what is the right amount of time (in years), that it starts turning into a 'rights' issue from a 'flawed process' issue.
Currently, unless we have some representative in the government, who sees this flaw as a real issue, it is only us non-immigrants who can push this harder, and generate that representative, who instead of sliding this issue along with some big Financial bill, lobbies hard to get this issue resolved, as a separate entity..
ON the hope that OP has generated, personally, Am I hopeful, that I will get my Green Card in July.

I am in H1 and filed for 485 and EAD, AP. Still have my H1B visa in my passport. Does getting EAD mean you are no more in H1? Or you really have to USE it to be out of H1.

msp1976, I found out that it would take at least a month to get a new passport (is this right?), and I did not have time for it. I'll be sure to post my experience here.

I have heard of people getting passport in 1 day or so in New York...But you have to go in person.....The mail service would take longer....
Also once they give you a stanp for the whole duration.. as someone mentioned earlier...you need to carry the old passport and the new booklet they give you...That works out just fine.....

Your EAD / AP renewal is on the basis of your pending I485 application, it has nothing to do with the validity of your I485 or AC21 application. AC21 is a privelege you can use to get away from retrogression for a bit, but does not gaurentee you a Green Card.

How about this scenario..
I invoked AC21 and changed job using my EAD. Now my new employer applied for my EAD and AP renewal. I got the approval for the renewal today....does that mean USCIS is ok with my application (AC21) or they will verify it at the time of 485 adjudication?

Simple thing, when she doesn't have a job why would you get her an H1B , which any other well qualified candidate would have got. Because of the people like you all the legal immigrants are the targets of the accusation of "stealing our jobs".

How can some one gives you a job offer to join them in October by sponsoring H1 in April. You don't apply for H1 during April of any year, then you will never be able to get a job.
I am sure you will find many (most of them are) consultants from so called cheap desi companies are technically smarter and have lots of exp as well. May be those companies are cheap, but people are not.

my understanding was that in this case you would not do a concurrent filing. You would file the I-140 requesting PD recapture. Once the I-140 was approved, and your PD-recapture also approved, at that point your new PD is confirmed and thats what allows you to file the I-485.
My earlier post had misleading information. I filed my I-140 in Feb'08 and I-485 in June'08. I didn't file my I-140/485 concurrently. I-140 is still pending and in my application PD transfer was requested.

Thanks a lot for the thoughts. The same logic will nullify the ebdependent to qualify for ebquota. How come a 5 year old dependent becomes eligible for ebquota (sec 203 clearly lists the quota size and qualifications).
Take an example:
H1 primary gets H1 visa, H1 derivative gets H4 visa( and is not counted in H1 quota). Same with L1 (dependent gets L2) the quota doesnt apply in L1.
If you don't agree with me then ask any attorney and post the response here. Hopefully that will make you see the reasoning.

I spoke to my attorney office and they said that June 485 receipting is alsmost in the verge of completion and if they dedicate a person for this July early birds will receive receipt number in couple of weeks from now.
