I didn't make a threat to murder. I guess that shows how intelligent you are. As a law student I believe in exercising my legal rights to their fullest extent. I agree on the copying for own use. You should not be limited on something you have purchased. But you put 'profit' at the end of your 'list' that to me means you also sell the copies.

I'm with T-Mobile now. I'm tired of waiting for TMo to get the iPhone so with the merger possibility, I looked into getting an iPhone with ATT. Since the iPhone will probably be upgraded this year, I thought I would get a $20 refurb 3GS with the new contract and upgrade early (probably at full phone price) when the new model comes out. I used the online ATT chat with a rep to make sure this was possible. She swore up and down that the iPhone is the only phone you can't upgrade early so there would be absolutely no way for me to get the new iPhone when it comes out, even if I paid full price for it. Then I see this post that specifically addresses early upgrading and no-commitment pricing. WTF?? Is she just a clueless rep or was she lying to me?

But what if torturing a person who is involved in the plans of a terrorist attack could prevent thousands of deaths?
Torturing would never be a good action, but it is like killing someone to defend yourself, killing is bad, but the result of killing saved your life.
In the case of torture, it is the government defending its people (country). If it can be avoided better, but I would rather authorize torture instead of letting attacks happen.

But there is absolutely no guarantee or, to my knowledge, no proof that torture results in any useful intelligence whatsoever. And killing someone to save your own life is defending yourself. Not sure how torture could ever be considered an act of self-defense.

Yea the last one was ridiculous, and crazy overpriced for what it was -the 4cyl was quoted around $30,000 and didn't have automatic *anything*, the seats felt like park benches, and it didn't have any of the nice interior features the 6cyl that cost 35+ did.
It had cool trunk hinges and tail lights, though. And that 2.0T is a neat engine (I'm sad they are launching the 2011 with a 2.5.. wtf?!)
When you talk about the "4cyl" are you referring to the turbo? Because I think the 1.8/2.0 turbo is a good motor, not necessarily out of place on a $30k car.
I'd have to go back and look at the article again, but I'm sure the turbo will be available on the Passat, but the 2.5 will be the base engine. I think it's a good engine, if not great. It competes well enough with the base 4 cylinders in thr Japanese competition. Myself, if I were going for a Passat I'd opt for the diesel. I thought the 1.8 turbo was a great engine, especially in the Golf, and the 2.0 turbo carried on that tradition.

So Samsung believed Apple was violating it's patents all this time but decided to do nothing about it. Now that they have been pushed they decide to act. Sounds to me they are trying to find whatever they can to bite back at Apple.
Well it could be that they thought they had a mutual understanding with Apple that they could borrow some technologies from each other but now that Apple choose to sue (Apple waited too you know, the Galaxy S wasn't exactly launched two weeks ago) Samsung is not gonna let it slide. I'm not commenting on the validity of the claim but I want to point out that people should remember that patents aren't only for the tangible things we consumers see, like the similarities between iOS and Touchwiz, but also the transparent to us consumers- under the hood technology, for which Samsung holds lots of patents.

SMS and MSN and other text-based messaging have changed my life and the lives of deaf people around the world. Before, telcoms was a closed world to me, now I'm never without my O2 XDA mini :)
It isn't just Paris Hilton who carries a sidekick, millions of USA deaf people do, and I'm willing to bet us deaf form a significant proportion of sales of mobiles-with-qwerty-keyboards around the world.
Bring it on Apple, I'm sick of using Windows Mobile on my otherwise awesomely excellent HTC hardware.
