Anyone going to be at the West Town Mall store the 26th?
You know ... I'd love to go only if I lived in Knoxville. I just moved to Gainesville and they do not EVEN have apple store. Sucks!

you need to restore the iphone using itunes but instead run the restore with a custom firmware.

My mom is trying to catalog my dad's huge CD collection. Some is already in iTunes, and the rest could easily be put there. He wants to be able to have printed lists according to his whim-of-the-day, such as which recordings do I have with singer X? A list of all his recordings of opera Y, in release order, etc.
Because my mom's hands hurt her, she can't do extended typing. This should ideally be a program that lets you import the CDs into iTunes, then let the cataloging program import them. Printing of good lists is essential - my dad won't be using the computer screen, my mom will be printing these things out for him. She's a smart lady, and has a reasonably good grasp of how to use her iMac, so typing in the "smart list" terms and generating the lists is not a problem for her.
It looks to me like Delicious Librar (http://delicious-monster.com/)y just might do this for her. It's more than she needs, but it's not expensive, and it will import from iTunes. CDpedia (http://www.bruji.com/cdpedia/) doesn't have a print function, as far as I can see, so I've ruled it out.
Free programs are nice, but I want this to be EASY for her, so I'll spend some money on it if need be.
Thoughts?

The year 2012 will probably show vast improvement in ebooks with all the new hardware being developed.

Many thanks for those links :)
Loads of fab apple logo wallpapers there. While I didn't find the actual one I'm looking for, I did pick up some others as I searched. I also found a black wood background & then google'd for a blue apple logo & have created one very similar to the one I want, in PS.

Thanks. That does help. One question where is the best place to sell a old computer? (eBay, Craigslist, other?) Update to drive problem: Drive has now accepted System Disk and has moved it onto the reader. However the reader seems to need lube. It's not spinning up properly. Worse however is the fact that the disk is now stuck in the drive. Manual and force ejecting raise the disk up but don't pop it out and there seems to be some thing holding the disk in the back so I can't pull it out. The mechanism that raises the disk also refuses to stay up after ejecting. It wants to slide back onto the reader immediately after it finishes rising. Help!

I just got a new 15" PB and have untill 12/21 to return it. These lines in the display really annoy me. The dilemma is that the only thing that I dont absolutely love about this machine is the screen, but the screen is a pretty major component of a laptop. If apple says they will fix it, i would be incredibly happy, but I dont know if that will ever happen. So my question is this, should I just wait untill apple makes an announcement and deal with the screen, or should I return it and get my money back before it is too late? Thanks for any input that you all may have.

I plan on being at the Salem, NH event.
I'll be there! Say hello if you notice a short-haired reddish-blonde guy in his mid-twenties wearing a grey cable-knit half zip sweater.
I'll have my black camera bag slung around me as well.

I recently reinstalled my Mac,
Taken literally, I wonder what that would mean. I think you mean you wiped it clean and installed the OS. Your file is gone. If you have a printed copy, make a new one.

They're downloading only the actual number of bytes (900 bytes)
The 4 K is an artifact of the hard disk formatting system, it's a 900 byte file in a 4096 byte pigeon-hole.
So 900 bytes will be transmitted, and what it occupies on the destination machine depends on the block size of that particular machine.
Thanks

What templates are you referring to? If you mean in the iLife or iWork apps, yes, those are all royalty free for commercial or personal use. However, things like the desktop pictures, etc, are not. Be a little more specific and maybe we can tell you for sure.

Okay I have an idea for a site where a user can type a word in a simple text box, hit submit, and the word is placed in a database (supposedly MySQL). Each time the word is submitted it's value will go up by 1, it is supposed to count how many times it's submitted. It should also contain information on when it was last submitted.
After that I need an RSS feed to update to show the words in order of how many times its been submitted and another to show them in the order of last submitted.
I have basic (VERY BASIC) skills with PHP and not much(except using PHPmyAdmin and installing Wordpress). How hard do you reckon this is and can you please help me to get this working?

Easy. You want to use iPhoto to store your pics and just edit a few in PhotoShop. In the iPhoto Preferences Pane, set the Edit With drop-down to PhotoShop. Back in iPhoto, Right-Click on your photo and select Open in External Editor. That will open it in PhotoShop. If the file is shot in RAW, it will open in the Adobe Camera Raw portion of PS where you can make fine adjustments not available in either iPhoto or the usual PhotoShop window. If it's just a jpeg, it will go right to the main PS window.
Here is my iPhoto Preferences Pane. Ignore the Aperture settings.

I was just given a used PowerBook G3/233, http://www.everymac.com/systems/apple/powerbook_g3/stats/powerbook_g3_233.html
I kind of suspect that the yo-yo AC adapter that came with it isn't the right one, M7332 http://www.powerbookmedic.com/YoYo_Style_Power_Adapter_m7332-p-16183.html The battery was working a few months ago, but now it's dead and I can't charge it. The PowerBookG3 is listed here as being compatible, but I'm really having to jam the plug into the computer pretty hard.
I believe it's not the right adapter because it isn't listed here http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=16168
The computer works on AC power fine, it just won't charge the battery. It's possible that the battery is just old and won't hold a charge any more.
I thought I'd post this problem here to see if any of you guys are using a Powerbook G3 with an M7332 adapter with no issues.
Let me know. Thanks.

From what I understand about CDMA phones, the carrier has to allow the phone on their network. As the others have said, it's highly doubtful that Sprint would do that. It can't hurt to ask, but expect to be disappointed.

If you spend a lot of time in Premiere Pro you want the Quadro.
Photoshop has an OpenGL mode, but it's off by default and is usually slower, so I would say your card won't really matter for Photoshop.

Hey everybody, thanks for the help. You have answered my questions. I do have one more though. After I rip a CD, then put it on my ipod, and I delete the CD from my itunes memory, why is it that when I plug my ipod back in, that CD (and playlist) are gone from my ipod? I guess the question is: Once I rip a CD, do I have to keep it in itunes? Thanks

QT has some good abilities to facilitate cross platform development and still let you use xcode, using qmake from a .pro file.
