If I remember correctly, you should rebuild the LS database (the equivalent of rebuilding the desktop is OS 9). Download Panther Cache Cleaner, and it has an option to do so. That should fix it (correct me if I am wrong).

while im not a fan of their articles or reviews of macs i would check out www.cnet.com's review section, its usually pretty helpful except for when it comes to macs, but as you said that isnt an issue here.....

Can a single game get announced these days without someone instantly crying "GOTY!!"?
I just read through the article. Being someone who thoroughly enjoyed LBP as a jump'n'run game but never had the time to invest in the level-creation part, all this information does very little for me.
There will still be a fun game attached to this whole creation toolbox, I hope?

So, the iMac is the best computer (other than the powermac of course) for final cut pro?
of course it is because it has the G5 and the 2GB of RAM you can have in it. Plus the huge HD and the DVD burner

Actually, I'm sure there is a way, as long as a person has access to the computer. There's probably some type of software used by corporations to monitor employee computer usage. In addition, searched MacUpdate for "keystroke logger" does come up with a utility called logkext. So of course it can be logged. Now, installing and monitoring it remotely might be difficult though. Securing physical access to your computer (i.e. setting up a password to come back from screensaver or sleep) would be the primary concern. You could also use Little Snitch to monitor apps making network connections.
I'm not aware of any way to "secure keystrokes" though.
For this to happen someone other than the primary users have to have access and root password to install a small application of this nature. Given that this person is the only one using it they have nothing to worry about unless they are not the root users on the iBook.
Even on the windows side you have to open and install the attachment sent via email in order for this to happen. Unless you have no clue of what you are doing then this is the least of your worries since it has always been said to never open an attachment from a sender you do not recognize.
Common sense. :)

I find that iTunes is kind of limiting. I listen to a lot of music from other countries, specifically East Asian countries and am looking for a better music download site that has a wider variety than iTunes. I do prefer to pay for my music because then I'm supporting my favorite artists. Call me lame if you want. I know I can get it free on some sites but I want to do the right thing. So can anyone recommend a good site which is safe, legal, and has a wide variety of music? I'm from the US if that makes any difference. I hate that iTunes will let me look at other countries' iTunes but not let me buy from it.
Any recommendations would be most appreciated!

This could be as simple as setting up port forwarding on your modem/router or as complex as setting up routing on your network. It depends on your situation with your connection to the outside world.
I suppose a few more details for specific help would be required. Do you want it visible to the outside world, or just another subnet that you are connected to? Are you on a corporate network, or a small network with a basic ISP modem/router that you have access to?
Edit: Do you want to publish it to a hosted co.cc domain, or host it on your own server?
I would prefer to have it accessible by everyone, though I plan to only let a few people know the link to it.
I'm on a private LAN, nothing fancy or related to business or others aside from myself really.
I was told that I had to get an external domain for it to work, and I'd like to use that in the link.
I checked my 2WIRE and it said that Mac OS X server is already being forwarded, yet when I switch to a nearby separate LAN I am unable to get it to work.
Thanks again. :)

Oh....well I'll live with it I guess. The wii looks so much better in 480p vs 480i so I can't bear to put it back on composite and put my 360 back on component.
and why couldn't I be 'Emperor Sikkinixx!" admiral?! they suck! :D

Squaretrade is more like insurance. The value of the policy is the amount of total repair costs you can incur. If you reach that limit you dont have any coverage.
With Apple you can have repairs dont under warranty for the entire period (no spending limit).
For something like the MBA with likely high repair costs...I am not convinced Squaretrade is the best way to go.
Thank you for that very informative post. No way will I be going with SquareTrade now.
You sir, just saved me $159 and possibly my MBA if it were to get into any trouble.

Hi
what's the best up scaling media player for Mac? I have VLC, QuickTime
and mplayer installed, but willing to get another one.
With what software can I reenecode up scaled?
Because I have a 27" screen with a resolution of 2560x1440 ;-)
cheers Sven
You want to to play upscaled or you eant it to reencode upscaled?
As for playing I would think VLC is technically better because you have dozens of scaling and display options. BUt it all depends on just how much you're upscaling... if you're trying to make 320x240 look like 720p you're going to be disappointed.

My black iPhone 4 used to overheat all the time in my car in the summer. Would the white one be less prone to overheating? Anyone has any experience?
