Windows is a hugely popular, current platform while PowerPC has been dwindling in use and support since 2006. The market for a PowerPC emulation environment would be tiny yet possibly more complex than Parallels or VMWare.
True dat. Oh well. Third party companies will recode their products when Lion is released. I'm eager for the next beta, it'll be a month this Thursday.

I was really expecting it to be released yesterday, especially with those reports a couple weeks ago of it being seeded to the devs.
And you really expect someone here is going to answer that for you? :rolleyes:

The guides category needs some better organization IMO.
We should decide if we want almost everything in sub-categories or most of it just in the guide category itself. I think having it half-half just confuses users and makes articles harder to find.
We should use the distinction between subcategories and the actual category to distinguish between more "important" and less "important" guides.
In an attempt to make the Mac Beginner's Guide more prominent I added a sub-category but I don't know whether this would be the best way to go about it, so before I do anything else I think we should talk about how we want to organize this category.
So feel free to delete the subcategory I created until we figure something out.

First, I'd like to know why you want it on the Desktop, you could just put it into the dock. But you can drag the Internet Explorer icon to the Desktop while holding Alt+Command (I'm not so sure, as I'm not on my Mac at the moment, just drag it and try some keys until you see the + symbol). This creates a shortcut to the app on your Desktop.

Did you buy it from a crack head?
Nope, I bought it on the forums for $225. Apple sent me a new one as the one I bought was having issues. I popped in the serial and bam, got the credit.

You have to manually extract the drivers from BootCamp.msi or BootCamp64.msi. e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EdgFlyjOnz8

Can I download them in the link he provided?? Or take them off the mini??
Sorry for all the rookie questions.

... which somebody said was a clue something was up. Myself, I was hoping for the 13" or 14" higher-resolution iBook. Ah well, I'm beginning to think nothing major until around May '03.

geektool should be able to do it. You'd need a big enough picture to span the desktop though. Geektool can overlay it, have it 'always on top', and make it whatever transparency you want.
I'm not sure why you would want it always on top. That would put it over application windows and everything.
If you wanted just transparent boarders overlayed, geektool can do that. Just make windows on the desktop with it, but don't put any code in them. They'd just be blank boxes which are whatever size, color, and transparency you want. That's what I did to put other things around my desktop:

It just seems like most people here get the 27 or the i7 and all of the upgrades, and I'm wondering, what am i really missing with the smaller one?
Mostly bragging rights on this site. :rolleyes:
The extra resolution is really, really nice. But you probably don't need anything else the 27" offers from your description, or even that the uplevel 21.5" offers. The base will be just fine for you, although you'll probably want an 8 GB RAM upgrade sooner rather than later.

I'm very curious as to why ...
A) Phil Schiller being the svp of worldwide product marketing is being UNDERPAID? He's been with Apple through the thick and thin, and most likely has held Apple's torch very close to his heart even stepped in for the big shows for Jobs at least twice - despite my previous critique he did very well. Should his role not demand a higher pay than say Forestall's ?
B) How come Bertrand Serlet's annual salary not declared on the companies site if he's not a board member or outside consultant and is an active member is an active member of coding the os?
Just curious, and a feel ol Phil has been handed a raw deal - unless bonus' keep him happy.
Ps I'm seeing this via the Reuters pro app on iphone & their site.

I've gone through many of these forums and solutions for this problem but none of them have worked. My internal speakers stopped working and this has happened before but it was solved by the easy-peasy headphone trick that is popular on those forums. But now it doesn't work. I've actually done it maybe a dozen times and it still doesn't work. I'm starting to think it's because my cat spilled water on it but I still don't think that's the case because this problem has happened before. I've tried restarting the computer and looking at the system preferences. The internal speakers don't even come up as an option on the output. Can someone help?

Or Why IMovie have stop using core 2 duo and now stock around 60% instead of the usual 175 % of processes capacities?
Greetings
It's been 30 hours now that I struggle with various hypothesis of work, trying to rehabilitate the full capacity of IMovie 08 (v 7.1.4) to export in a proper time.
Usually, during exportation, Imovie use 150 to 175 % of my MacBook Pro Core 2 duo, since the last two days, it is stock between 30 and 70 % and I can't figure why. Lately, at its best, It went back to 120% for about two minutes and drop back to 65%.
It is like that since I bounce a 15minutes single track on Logic Pro 9 while IMovie 08 was exporting. It then generate a ReportCrash's crisis that I've try to describe my best here https://discussions.apple.com/message/15090079#15090079. As the Crash Report was about QMaster / Qmasterd, I have removed completely the application withouth been shure it was a good idea.
It then let IMovie gain back some strength and to now use around 60% of the capacities instead of the poor 25% of the crisis time. Still it make my work days compromise as an export that was taking 40 minutes is now recquiering 260 ! I was fearfull that qmaster could have been an architectural piece that make possible the usage of the dual core ( Core 2 Duo ) but by a test on another similar cpu without qmaster, Imovie was still exporting at 140%.
Any suggestion is welcome.
This happen at the worst time I could have imagine as I have to quickly produce a pilot as a film project proposal. What seemed flush in the usual exporting time now seem compromise by that bad surprise.
If nobody has a clue, does efficiants clip's trimming programs exist for mac ?
Hope they is a known way to solve this issue without having to bring the machine to the store

Perfect work around for no AAC support (protected and 'open') on Tivo. Great Job by the author. Yeah, I had a little issue with getting it to work, but that was firewall related and me not doing the right thing (reading a readme file.... who needs one, right?), but it seems stable!!

a) phone just came out
b) probably not. The iPhone gets warm when you charge it+ use gps/3G antenna, the color of the phone doesn't change how it dissipates heat.
If your phone is just in your car, not being used, then yes it will probaly heat up less because it's white, but it will not cool down any faster

Apple does ALL there web codecs in the Standard HTML, CSS, & JAVASCRIPT free hand, (meaning no WYSIWYG formats) ...
As you see the source code in the trailers in your link...
<!-- Trailer Scripts -->
<script src="http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/global/scripts/bootstrapper.js" type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"></script>
<script type="text/javascript">
// Bootstrap includes based on device/browser
AC.bootstrap = new AC.bootstrapper();
// Define dropdownTimer in global space
var dropdownTimer = null;
var hasScrollbar = false;
</script>
<script src="http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/global/scripts/share.js" type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"></script>
<script src="http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/global/scripts/sendtoafriend.js" type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"></script>

<script src="http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/global/scripts/dropdown.js" type="text/javascript" charset="utf-8"></script>
......
Apples team of web designers/engineers also hide/mask alot of "cool" effects in their code to make it difficult to copy their style of implementation (take for instance the Mobile Me page with the clouds)....So you to do those things in the trailer, you need to really understand your language (ie:JavaScript, Css) in which you develop in, I think any serious web developer wouldn't need a WYSIWYG format to do these effects. Besides coding free hand is much better and more FREEDOM :)

In my PowerBook g3 (wallstreet) screen started behaving erratically to the point it became useless. We bought a g4 iMac and never looked back.
Finally determined that I want to get files off that old laptop, and not sure how to do so? I'm pretty sure the PowerBook still boots, and I'm going to try hooking up an external monitor (no I didn't think of that 9 years ago) to see if I can use it to see for sure. If it does work, and I can access the system after all these years, I want to be ready to grab files right then.
What would be the best way for me to connect it to an intel iMac to transfer those files? Would it be as easy as connecting the two with an Ethernet cable and turning on file sharing? Or should I plan on connecting it to the campus network at work and dumping to some network drive space?
The PowerBook is running 8.5, I think, and the iMac is running the most recent 10.6.
Any advice?

I would imagine Parallels would be up to the things you list. Much easier to use, and saves you having to restart your Mac.
