    Im in the same boat as you. I just bought a D70 and it came with almost the same exact len kit. Ive had lots of fun/luck witht he 70-300mm at my kids softball games. I got some great shots of the kids at the plate , running, fielding etc...

    Back to your original question....I just bought a magazine this week by ShutterBug - Digital Photography How-To Guide. One of the articles is about choosing the next lens for your digital SLR. Well worth the price for us rookies :p





    I need some serious help with my D50 equipment. I have no experience at all with SLR cameras, and have recently bought a bundle consisting of a Nikon D50 and a Nikon 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G ED AF-S Dxlens. Now I am interested in buying another lens (The Nikon 70-300mm f/4-5.6 AF Zoom Lens) in hope that these two lenses would suit my needs in amateur photography. I intend to photo landscapes, portraits and some ''macro'' (flowers and some insects). So, I would like to know if these lenses are an acceptable choice, having in mind that I can't afford to buy some expensive lenses, as my average monthly salary almost amounts to the price of these cheap ones.     You should be thankful you are even able to file for 485. There are so many of us here who have waited 4+ YEARS (and still waiting) for just their labor cerification from BECs. Even assuming they get their I-140 approved overnight, they need to wait another 3-4 YEARS before they can even FILE 485. So compared to that 4-5 months processing time to approve I-140 is a rounding error .. dont mean to defend USCIS or trivialize your problem, just giving you some perspective in the larger context of this huge EB mess.
    This is absolutely no-sense at all.

    Texas, take about 2-3 months to approve 140 and 485. While Nebraska take about 4-5 months to approve only 140. This is not included 485 that back up from December 2, 2005.

    You compare about 2-3 month processing time from one Center and another 1 year from another service center.

    People there don't know how to do the mathematic or what, why keep sending everything to Nebraska still. Why don't transfer from the last person in Nebraska to Texas and have Texas start processing 485 in Queued.

    We don't want people get process by Luck! or by paying more money and left other people behind.

    I’ve successfully e-filed my renewal and got the approval for both EAD and AP in just two weeks. It’s really a good system.

    My case is little different though – When I entered US this time, I had H1 approval but not the stamping in my passport (didn’t want to go through the stamping hassle), so I used my AP at the port of entry.

    When I renewed my EAD and AP online, I mentioned, “I entered using AP” and my current status is “H1”. There were no queries, and got the approval.

    I am sorry PnjbIndia, I am not at all familiar with cross chargeabilty. Maybe you do have to wait for her FP but I can't be certain. Have you considered doing an INFOPASS appointment? Wish you all the best and hope that you will get good news soon!!!!!

    When I applied for my wife's AOS 3 weeks ago as a derivative, my lawyer also wrote in the cover letter to consider my case in cross chargeability.
    But I have not seen any LUDs on my case yet. One point is that , may be I have to wait till my wife has got her FP cleared? Or can I get my case approved before hers? My FP is cleared....

    Do you think they can give me the GC before my wife? Or they both have to come at the sametime... she is my AOS dependent, but i am using her country for cross chargeability.... any thoughts....

    What a fabulous ruling this is.

    One question for Lazycis:

    # (3) actually reads "(3) may not, without USCIS initiating notice and comment procedures, be used to delay action on Plaintiffs petitions for naturalization, particularly because Plaintiffs have already undergone a name check in order to achieve LPR status and will clear the “fingerprint check” described in the Memorandum of January 25, 2008.10 The fingerprint check will show whether an LPR who is applying for naturalization has had any contact with the criminal justice system that would warrant denial of the petition."

    As far as I can tell even (1) and (2) only apply to Naturalization applicants.

    So the question of the hour is: are (1) and (2) true for AOS cases? I am asking this question because to argue a case for compelling recapture you need an AOS version of Baylson's ruling + the Galvez-Howerton decision (http://immigrationvoice.org/forum/showpost.php?p=223315&postcount=121). Only then can you say that there was affirmative misconduct in 2003 and hence compel recapture.

    Great ruling. The analysis is totally applicable to AOS. Moreover, the government admitted that it was wrong in recent memo.

    "In the context of removal proceedings, ICE has determined that FBI fingerprint checks and Interagency Border Inspection Services (IBIS) checks are the required checks for purposes of the applicable regulations."

    Wait a minute, isn't immigration judge able to grant AOS in removal proceedings? It means that the DHS acknowledges that it wrongfully interpreted regulations for all these years and that name check is not required by law (at least for AOS) as we were saying all along!

    I love also this part: "in the unlikely event that FBI name checks reveal actionable information".

    As judge Baylson pointed out, "name check" is nowhere to found in laws and regs.

    I did my three years diploma (polytechnic) and three years engineering degree (B.E.) after that and I had @ eight years of experience while I had applied for GC through EB2 category. I had no problem in getting my I-140 approval; so far I have not received single rfe.

    I had same situation as vactorboy but I had US masters. I had no problem with labor or I-140. My I-140 was approved in a month.

    Hello Friends,

    I am planning to apply Canada PR... here is my status...

    Filed 485... currently working on EAD... no H1 any more... employer didn't extend it...

    1. Should i qualify IELTS to prove english language ability... inspite of having 18 yrs of education with medium of instruction as english?

    2. Since i do not have h1 any more and am on PAROLE status.... will it be difficult for me to prove that i have "real intent" of moving to Canada after getting PR?

    I would appreciate any one who can throw some light on this.

    Hi All,

    Here is my case , when i went to f1 - h1-b stamping in mexico, they issued me 221-g & asked me to got to india for stamping..( but they allowed me to enter usa)..later i applied for AP & EAD, got both ( recently i got i-140 query)
    (RFE due date Mar10)
    Here are my doubts:
    1. can i go to india & comeback with AP in hand
    2. Do i need to wait for my i-140 approval
    3. my question is what if my i -140 rejects ??

    The immigration bill before the U.S. Senate just died, likely preventing any more action on the volatile issue until after the 2008 presidential elections.

    Why is the issue date matter?

    When was the birth registered? If it says recently, then you should go thru the process.

    If the birth was registered proerly at right time, you will not have problems.

    Reissuance of birth certificates are very common. Expecting one to own 27 years old document is ridiculous.

    I've called them couple of times but they always say that the FP notice has not been mailed but has been ordered (whatever that means).

    I'll call them again next week and try to open a SR.

    may be they are random again as usual in issuing FP notices as well...they might not be going strictly by the notice dates.

    If I get my 3yr H1 extn approved (before 140 cancellation) with company B and company A revokes my approved 140, is it possible to transfer my priority date(of the approved 140 ..which is now revoked by company A) to my new 140 filed by company B?

    A priority date can only be recaptured from one approved I-140 to another approved I-140, regardless of whether an I-485 was filed or not.

    First apply for H4 asap. It is simple to file H4 extension. I also forgot to file extension for my wife. I realized after a month and applied. luckily her h4 was approved. my attorney told if we dont get the extension within 180 days she has to leave the country and get stamped. Any way talk to attorney. apply for extension and wait until another 3 months.if you dont get it then leave the country and come back.

    I wasn't filing for an extension but rather a transfer of my H1B. It expired while waiting for the transfer. Do you think that might make a difference....negatively?

    My case is some what similar. My h1b extension packet was returned for lack of filing fee but before we could re-apply my old h1b expired. We applied however but USCIS approved h1B petition and didn't grant me h1b status i.e didn't issue I-94. I am required to leave the country for stamping.

    Now we are filing nunc-pro-tunc petition essential pleading with USCIS it was no fault of my mine. You can do gooogle on this.

    FBI Namecheck isn't exactly an immediate issue for me due to colossal backlogs. Yet clearance of the backlog may be meaningless if a person happens to get caught in the FBI backlog instead !

    Kudos for taking actions to protect Immigration rights. As a future Citizenship applicant I'll surely benefit if this inhumane bureaucratic mess would be fixed.

    FBI Namechecks aren't limited to Citizenship applicants alone. There are countless Green Card applicants stuck in the FBI backlog too. Are any legal actions being planned to help them too?
